A Creation-tide Prayer

God of creation and renewal,

the earth is yours, and all that is in it.

You formed it in beauty, entrusted it in love,

and call us still to be its faithful stewards.

Yet we confess: we take more than we need,

we waste what others could use,

we silence the cry of the soil and the sea.

We have turned your garden into a marketplace,

your gift into a possession.

Shake us from our complacency.

Disturb our false comforts.

Remind us that to follow Christ

is to bear the cross of change:

to live more simply, to speak more bravely,

to act more justly.

Renew in us wonder,

restore to us compassion,

and give us the courage to join your work of healing -

until rivers run clean, fields burst with life,

and every creature sings your praise again.
